Which branch is better, AK or M series?

In terms of stopping power, accuracy and range, which is better, m4, or 5.45 ak varients (ak74, ak74m, ak74u, ak 100 series) Personally, looking at the joules both the 5.56 and the 5.45, I think the m4 would be better. The russian round, 5.45 has a maximum energy rating of 1457 joules, while the 5.56 has a maximum energy rating of 1796 joules
