Which birth control method is recommended for me...?

i'm going to have an iud put in but the doctor told me i need to tell him which one to put in... my period comes mid month but i need help deciding... i obviously want the one that will make my period lighter because i don't like having heavy bleeding... but i also heard that those might hurt or w/e... they told me about mirena and paragard... which one have you had and how was your experience? i just want less period and less pain.. and i just need it for about 5 years... cause i want to have another child later on. Please tell me about your experiences; thanks :)
