Do copper IUDs increase menstrual bleeding and spotting by a lot? Is this symptom seen in everyone?

I've been looking at birth control methods and have decided that an IUD and also using condoms is the way to go. I dislike the idea of having hormones put into me, so I want the copper one, but I hear it increases bleeding. I have enough of that as it is! So does this happen to everyone? Is it severe? Any information on these is welcome! Thanks!
